Electronic Cigarette FDA Ruling – Christmas Present For Smokers
The ruling last week by the Federal Court of Appeal in the case between the FDA and two electronic cigarette importers came as an early Christmas present to all smokers – even if the majority of them don’t know it yet!
The outline of the ruling bought up two main points. The first was in regards to the regulation of e-cigs as tobacco products rather than as a new drug device. This was the key to the continuation of the industry which is fast proving itself as the logical alternative to smoking tobacco.
The second point came as an observation by the court that with the unlimited funds available to the FDA they were unable to provide one case of harm caused by electronic cigarettes to a user of the device or any third party.
With somewhere in the region of 500,000 users of electronic cigarettes, this affirmation of the product as a viable alternative to smoking tobacco for existing adult smokers without the need to inhale the toxic chemicals and carcinogens that cigarettes provide is one step closer to a wider acceptance that tobacco smokers can now satify their nicotine habit without killing themselves or anyone who maybe around them.
